- The district formed on 11-10-2016 and named after Telangana ideologue, Prof. K. Jayashankar sir. Jayashankar Bhupalpally is linked with the dynasties of Great Vishnukundins and even prior to it also of the Buddhist and pre-Buddhist periods of indian History. Jayashankar Bhupalpally District is an area of 2293 Square Kilometers.
The Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TS-Genco) has stepped up work on its ongoing thermal projects with the stage-two of Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (KTPS) at Bhupalpally in Warangal district set to be commissioned by the end of October first week.
Lighting up of the boiler for the 600-MW unit had already been done in May and it is approaching the stage of commencing in-firm power generation, sources in TS-Genco stated. Addition of the 600 MW-capacity is expected to reduce financial burden on the government in the form of spot purchase of power to that extent and also as a boost to the government promise to supply uninterrupted nine-hour power to the farming sector in day time from April next.
Kakatiya Thermal Power Station is located near Chelpur village of Ghanpur mandal in Warangal district of the Indian state of Telangana. The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of TSGENCO.
This power plant was developed in 2 stages. The first stage comprised one 500MW unit. The unit was synchronized to grid with oil firing on 31.03.2010 at 06:08 hrs. Coal firing was immediately taken up and the load was raised up to 84 MW and the unit was in service with this load for about 1 hour.
Thermal energy is the energy that comes from the temperature of the heated substance. Furthermore, mostly the thermal plants harness the power of steam to drive the turbines. Thermal plants are generally used in the Industrial sector mainly for generating electricity
With the increasing population in India, its energy consumption rate is increasing and it uses about 6% of the world’s primary energy. If we check of last 69 years after the Independence of India there is an increase in power capacity from 1300MW to 267,000MW. But despite such an increase in the production of electricity, demand is more than it is produced.
India primarily focuses on three types of thermal power plants which are listed below along with their installed capacity as of starting 2021:
- Coal: 206404.50 MW
- Gas: 24956.51 MW
- Liquid Fuel(Diesel): 509.71 MW
